Stem Cell Research: NOT Just a Moral Issue

Don't get me wrong. I am an Irish Catholic who strongly opposes abortion and would overturn Roe vs. Wade in a second. I believe abortion is the single greatest evil in this world in front of radical Islam. And the issue of stem cell research is no different.

I am opposed to the "farming" of these potential human beings in order to help us living human beings (even though not one person has ever been cured or even HELPED by stem cells). But I don't agree with people talking about this like it is only a moral issue, once the goverment steps in and tries to use the taxpayer's money to fund it, it becomes something else entirely.  Stem cell research  is legal in the United States contrary to the understanding you might get from the media. This issue is the exact same as if Democrats started arguing that our income taxes should be used to give women abortions.

The issue we should be arguing about is not only whether stem cell research is morally wrong or not, that is for the courts to decide. We should be arguing whether or not it is our government's job to use tax payer's money to fund the research. The answer is no! This is why I get so upset when I see Republicans voting for the bill, not because stem cell research is wrong but because their are so many big government Republicans out there.

The government keeps getting bigger and bigger and NO one seems to be trying to stop it. What happened to all the Reagonites that believed in the government of our forefathers? I hate to say it, but unless the politicians start listening to the people and not their greed, I have a feeling the two major political parties will eventually become one. And America definitely does not want that!
